Dr. Shane Tonn

Dr. Shane Tonn is co-owner of Newton Animal Hospital. A Kansas State University graduate, Dr. Tonn is an avid fan of the Wildcat sports teams!

Dr. Shane Tonn is co-owner of Newton Animal Hospital. A Kansas State University graduate, Dr. Tonn is an avid fan of the Wildcat sports teams! Dr. Tonn has been a trusted veterinarian in the Newton area for over 25 years. He originally owned two veterinary clinics in Newton which merged to become Newton Animal Hospital. His patients include dogs and cats. Dr. Tonn enjoys fishing, hunting, working in his vegetable garden, and travelling to visit his three grown daughters.

Dr. Paul Friesen

Dr. Paul Friesen had been a veterinarian in Newton before forming a partnership with Dr. Tonn.

Dr. Paul Friesen had been a veterinarian in Newton before forming a partnership with Dr. Tonn. Together they built and now own Newton Animal Hospital. Dr. Friesen focuses on our dog and cat patients. Dr. Friesen is an avid bike rider who has biked through several states and even in the mountains. Having been raised in Peru, Dr. Friesen enjoys traveling back to visit family members who are still there. Dr. Friesen is also active in his church and participates in service trips annually. Dr. Friesen and his wife, Amanda, have 3 grown sons and 1 daughter. Their family also enjoys their two cats Khalil and Roku.

Dr. Mark Brunson

Dr. Mark Brunson joined our practice in 2016. After earning his veterinary degree from Kansas State University, he worked in a mixed veterinary practice in Oklahoma.

Dr. Mark Brunson joined our practice in 2016. After earning his veterinary degree from Kansas State University, he worked in a mixed veterinary practice in Oklahoma. We are pleased that we were able to bring him back home to Kansas. He now cares for dogs and cats in our practice. Our patients and clients appreciate his gentle and patient manner. When he is not working, he enjoys family activities with his wife, Maggie, and their two daughters. The Brunson family also includes Finley, a Golden Retriever and their cats Tabby and Tom Eliot.
Greeter/Supervisor

Flower

Flower is our personality-filled clinic cat. She is an expert at finding treats, playing with toys, and laying on important papers.

Flower is our personality-filled clinic cat. She is an expert at finding treats, playing with toys, and laying on important papers. Flower likes to "help" at the reception desk by walking across the computer keyboards, trying to bury cups of coffee, and taking over the chairs of our reception team. But we appreciate her loving purrs and comforting presence the most! Flower has become a "star" on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Being somewhat of a "diva," she loves posing for pictures wearing her vast wardrobe of decorative bandanas. Be sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up with her!
Office Manager

Denise

Denise has worked as an office manager and veterinary receptionist for over 30 years.

Denise has worked as an office manager and veterinary receptionist for over 30 years. Denise and her husband, Anthony, have adopted several cats over the years. Currently, they have three cats: Ellie, Jimmy, and their recent rescue, Yogurt. Denise and Anthony also have two grown daughters, one living in Wichita and the other in New York. During her spare time, Denise loves working on her bullet and reading journals, activities with her daughters, and watching Anthony perform as a musician. Denise is an avid reader, especially enjoying literary fiction. She spends her free time relaxing with a book and a cup of coffee in a cozy coffee shop or browsing in bookstores.

Jane

Jane has worked in the veterinary field for 24 years at Newton Animal Hospital

Jane has worked in the veterinary field for 24 years at Newton Animal Hospital and our previous clinic, Town & Country Animal Clinic. She has two Ragdoll cats named Minkie & Stella. When not at work, Jane enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and cats.
Receptionist

Carmen

Carmen has been a receptionist with NAH for a little over a year now.

Carmen has been a receptionist with NAH for a little over a year now. She is a Newton native. She loves animals and has had rabbits, turtles, horses, ducks, chickens, cats, and dogs as pets. She had lots of diverse work experience that she brings to the practice. In her spare time, she enjoys being outside in nice weather, and especially likes exploring and photographing abandoned and/or historical sites in Kansas.
Receptionist

Micha

Micha has been working at Newton Animal Hospital since 2019.

Micha has been working at Newton Animal Hospital since 2019. She has two cats and a dog. She met all of her pets here before adding them to her household. She likes to sunbathe, take walks, crochet, and do crafts. Micha is creative and happily volunteers to help with all decorating and craft projects at the hospital.
Veterinary Technician

Lucinda

Lucinda has been with Newton Animal Hospital for 5 years.

Lucinda has been with Newton Animal Hospital for 5 years. She attended classes at Wichita Area Technical College and WSU Tech. She is also Certified in Abdominal Ultrasounds. She is also our veterinary software genius and gets us out of trouble! Outside of work, Lucinda has been happily married for 15 years and has two amazing children. She enjoys family time, going to her kids’ various sports practices and games, watching movies, and doing puzzles.
Registered Veterinary Technician

Heather

Heather is a Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse.

Heather is a Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse. She graduated from Colby Community College and passed her state boards in 2005. She is a mother of two great kids and has four pets, three cats and one dog who helps us at the hospital from time to time. When Heather is not working, she is either at school events, at church, or relaxing at home.

McKenzie

McKenzie has worked as a Veterinary Technician at Newton Animal Hospital for 5 years.

McKenzie has worked as a Veterinary Technician at Newton Animal Hospital for 5 years. In addition to working with patients, McKenzie is our inventory specialist and orders our pharmacy and supply items. A native Newtonian, she has worked most of her life with her pets and agricultural animals. McKenzie and her husband have a son who is growing up with the same agricultural background as his mother. In her spare time, McKenzie enjoys woodworking and taking care of their livestock.

Hunter

Hunter has worked at Newton Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician for a year.

Hunter has worked at Newton Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician for a year. He brings previous experience from a veterinary clinic in New York. Hunter can be counted on for his positive attitude and humor. He is a fan of all things red (his favorite color). Hunter and his wife, Rachel, have an infant daughter named Anna. He is happiest when spending time with his family, including his two dogs, Bucky and I.V.

Berlin is a Veterinary Technician Assistant.

Berlin is a Veterinary Technician Assistant. She keeps busy as a part-time online college student and working here full-time. In her free time, Berlin enjoys attending to her plants, playing music, and crafting. Berlin says, “My passion in life is to help and care for animals. I have the privilege to assist wonderful doctors that share my same values.”
