About Our Hospital

Welcome to Newton Animal Hospital, your local veterinarians in Newton, Kansas - Part of Tornado Alley.

“Newton is the seat of Harvey County, is a trading center for the surrounding wheat country, and a main division point of the Santa Fe Railway. The city lies amid gently rolling hills. Main Street is bisected by tracks that rattle endless freight trains carrying oil and grain to the east, and merchandise and farm machinery to the west. About twenty-five passenger trains, including sleek streamliners, halt daily at the Main Street Depot.”Federal Writer’s Project

Newton Animal Hospital reduces anxiety for our patients by separating our cat and dog patients. Our reception area features separate waiting areas for dogs and cats. We have three exam rooms for dogs and two exam rooms located on the opposite side of the building for cats.

Near the exam rooms, our treatment area and tables are available to perform treatment procedures, including abdominal ultrasounds on our patients. We also have a dedicated room for digital radiographs. Our surgical suite allows two doctors to perform surgeries at the same time. We also have a lab area in which our technicians can utilize our lab equipment to do in-house blood, fecal, and urine analysis.

We are proud to serve Newton, KS and the surrounding areas. Our standard of care values preventative medicine to keep your pet as healthy as possible. We also provide diagnostic testing, abdominal ultrasound, surgical procedures, nutritional counseling, prescriptions and pet care items, and hospitalization.

We have been at this location since 2006. However our history reaches back to the 1960’s when Dr. Cyril Brown founded our practice. Dr. Shane Tonn, one of our current owners, purchased the practice when Dr. Brown retired. After being joined by co-owner, Dr. Paul Friesen, they built this facility. Their goal was to provide the best medical service possible to our patients throughout a pet’s entire life. Our patients include dogs and cats. We hope you will give us the opportunity to meet and care for your pets. If you desire further information or would like to set up an appointment, please call (316) 283-1650.
